Before you can transfer money from M-Pesa to your bank account, ensure you have:
1. Active Accounts
- An active M-Pesa account registered with Safaricom
- An active bank account with a Kenyan bank
- Your 4-digit M-Pesa PIN
- Sufficient funds in your M-Pesa account
2. Account Linking Requirements
To enjoy the service, register for Mobile banking with your bank and register for M-PESA at any agent outlet countrywide. Registration is FREE.

Deposit Money to a Bank Account from M-Pesa using M-Pesa Lipa na M-Pesa (Paybill)
This is the most common and widely used method across all Kenyan banks.
General Steps:
- Go to M-Pesa menu on your phone (dial *334# or use SIM toolkit)
- Select "Lipa na M-Pesa"
- Choose "Pay Bill"
- Enter your bank's Paybill number
- Enter your complete bank account number (as the account number)
- Enter the amount you want to transfer
- Enter M-PESA pin.
- Confirm the transaction
- Wait for confirmation SMS from both M-Pesa and your bank

Many banks offer M-Pesa to bank transfers through their mobile applications. These steps vary depending on the mobile app development
Example - I&M Bank OTG App:
- Log in to OTG App
- Go to Payments
- Select Mobile Money under Mobile Tab
- Select your account
- Select recipient from your beneficiary list or enter phone number manually
- Enter amount
- Tap on next, confirm details are correct
- Tap on Send Money. Once your receive OTP, enter and complete the transaction
Deposit Money to a Bank Account from M-Pesa using USSD Codes
Some banks offer reverse transfers through their USSD platforms.
Example - I&M Bank:
- Dial *458#
- Go to Mobile Money Option (5)
- Select Account to M-Pesa option (1)
- Select the appropriate option and complete the transaction

Depositing money into your Bank account from M-Pesa using internet banking varies from bank to bank.
Simply visit your bank website and on the online services section. Follow the prompts as directed on the screen to input your account number and amount. Input your M-PESA mobile number in this format: 2547xxxxxxxx and pay.
